The police found a metal “box” in a basement and thought it was the remains of a dead person.
Police were able to identify the victim, a woman in her 60s, and her husband, who they say was a drug dealer.
But it was later discovered the box had been buried beneath the house for years.
The discovery has left many scratching their heads, but now, the coroner has ruled that the box was indeed the remains – of the victim’s husband, which the couple had buried in the basement.
Police found the box in a garage of the couple’s home in the city’s Lakeview neighborhood.
“I don’t know how many years ago it was,” Detective Brian Parnell said.
“It was in a metal container.
“I’m not sure how much longer it’s going to be buried.””
Parnell says the box is a possible crime scene.”
